All candidates who wish to enrol in the university's respective course must take the entrance examination. To qualify for BSC, candidates must have passed 10+2 with English, Physics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects and any Biology, Mathematics, and Farming as optional subjects. A Bachelor's degree must apply to M. Sc. candidates with a minimum of 60% for general candidates, and 55% for reserved candidates in the corresponding discipline. PhD applicants must receive a master's degree in the discipline concerned. Based on marks in their respective entrance exams, B.Sc. and M.Sc. candidates are selected. Based on written tests as well as interviews, PhD candidates shall be selected.

YSPUHF Admission Reservation
The HP quota seats/seats open for all shall be filled up in the following manner:-
22.5% of the total seats under the HP quota shall be reserved for scheduled caste (15%) and scheduled tribe (7.5%). The benefit of this reservation shall apply to the bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh. In case the candidates in either of the two categories are not available, the seat(s) will be interchangeable.
Note: In case, the candidates as prescribed in the above clause are selected according to their position in the combined general merit list, shall not be counted for covering the prescribed percentage of reservation. Five seats are reserved for nominees of State Government/ Industries. The merit of the candidate will be determined keeping in view the reservation of various categories. In the case of nominees, inter-se merit shall be determined
